Can Tho – Mekong Delta

Glen: 27th October – 1st November

Can Tho is the forth largest city in Vietnam and is known for it’s floating markets and picturesque canals. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see them or much of Can Tho!

Mandy was already starting to feel unwell before we arrived here but she took a turn for the worse and apart from two brief meals out in the town she spent six days in bed. On arrival at the hotel they very kindly upgraded us to one of their VIP roof top rooms. Because we stayed longer at the hotel than they were expecting they asked us to move rooms on several occasions which meant we got to stay in each of the three best rooms.

Mandy either had a high temperature or was cold and had no energy, we only found out later that she had a lung infection which needed antibiotics to clear it up.

So we spent most of the time in the room and as a consequence the pictures for this blog are poor.

Most of the pictures were either taken from the coach on the way to Can Tho or from our various rooms.

Not bad rooms for £17 a night including breakfast
We had a wooden hammock, a Jacuzzi bath and our own little garden balcony, but Mandy was just excited that she could hang her washing out on her mobile line!
A roof top room with a view
Our second VIP room had an outside bathroom and garden with chairs and tables which we didn’t get to use, sadly
