We met lots of lovely people in China, here are a few photos we took with some of them. There are many more people who have photos of us though!
The Great Wall, where else! This young family asked for a photo with us, so we took one too.
The Forbidden City – talking technology.
Pingyao
So this lady stopped us and asked where we were from and when we said “England” she asked to have a photo taken with me. She said “so beautiful” and I blushed and said “I don’t think so, I am full of a cold……” Glen turned to me and said “she means England!” 🙈
I jokingly photo bombed this group of ladies in red, saying “I’m wearing red!” then laughed and walked away but they came after me and made me stand in the middle to have a photo with them.
This lady saw me having a photo with another group of women and she came running down the road to get a photo with me too!
Xian
Glen was asked to sign his autograph for all these children, we never found out why!
This lady’s husband took a photo of us but the lady was more interested in posing for Glen!
Chengdu
I had a long chat to this lady, we laughed and chatted and neither of us knew what the other was saying but it felt good. Chuckle. Her husband wanted a photo of us both.
We convinced him to have a photo too.
Glen communicating with one of many people selling food with his translation app. We could not have managed without it because Chinese people are not good at mime.
Guilin
This lovely 17 year old student helped us place an order in a little Muslim cafe. He asked if he could sit with us. He was such a nice guy. He goes to High school from 7.30am until 10.30pm six days a week and wants to study to become a Doctor.
This lady and her partner owned the restaurant and was happy to have her picture taken, her partner unfortunately wasn’t. She wanted to hold my hand!
This group of ladies were so excitable.
This lady was showing us what she was cooking before we bought from her.
This lady was (trying) to be our translator! She was lovely but a bit bossy lol!
This man and his friend asked (indicated) that he wanted to have his photo taken with Glen.
Yangshuo
This baby’s Grandmother pushed her baby on to me and took a photo! We then had a mime conversation about my babies (age 31 and 29!) and our grandchildren (age 5 and 3). The baby wasn’t so happy about it as her grandparents were!
These two young girls came up to talk to us. They spoke good English. They eventually asked to have a photo with us so I took one too. We think she just got confused in the excitement of meeting us and it‘s really a peace sign!
This friendly couple below paid for our meal! They were on holiday from America. They were pleased that we loved visiting their native country.
I love your blogs – you look so happy and they make me feel as though I’m there with you! So glad you’re both adventuring again ♥️ xxx
Mandy Rees yes, Shanghai, passport, visa, money and makeup nicked on a business trip of all men except me, it was eventful, spent most of my time at the police station and British consulate. But have so many memories, it was my first time out of Europe so a culture shock, I remember eating lung and hairy crab, going to a karaoke brothel and having the most painful / amazing foot massage ever! I got stopped everywhere for photos. I wonder who they thought glen was? Enjoy my lovelies xxxxxx
Ali, I’ve been thinking of you Ali x didn’t you go to China and loose your passport? Where did you go in China? X
Ha ha love this, miss you Mandy xxxxxx
