About Us

A little bit older, no wiser, still anxious and backpacking again!

Hi, we are Glen and Mandy, and we’re off on our travels.

Six years ago we packed in our jobs, rented out our house and set off to explore South East Asia. We travelled for twelve months, with a ten month break in-between to visit home; we had a fantastic time! All of our previous blogs are listed on the Home page.

So, we’re doing it again, packing in our jobs, renting out the house and setting off with a one way ticket to China!

I’m Glen, the one in the pink helmet, the logistics manager and booking agent. Our blog name ‘feel the fear and backpack anyway’ doesn’t refer to me, that’s my partner and best friend Mandy who doesn’t like any form of motorised transport. So you can now understand the thinking behind our Blog title. However, she does not let it get in the way of her passion for travel!

I’m Mandy, during our last Gap Year I kept a detailed daily log and published blogs along the way. I have since been told that I should write a book. I think it would be best entitled ‘Anxious in Asia’ the travelogue of the reluctant, menopausal, OCD, backpacker – a guide to South East Asia, Indo China and North India. I love to travel but have a fear of flying, motorways and tiny mountain roads and everything in-between. It was therefore a huge achievement for me and a nightmare for my long suffering husband Glen!
