Thank you for a lovely evening last Thursday. It was THE best Maqluba we have ever tasted. So improved by using beef instead of lamb (cheeky grin) and has nothing to do with the fact that it was the very first time we had tried it (Wink). It was the Iraqi savoury equivalent of the UK’s Pineapple upside down cake…… although actually that does not do it justice at all, the only similarity being that you serve it upside down. Seriously, thank you Samir it was delicious.

Thanks also to Jo for the very tasty starter of ‘Cheese and Spinach triangles’ and the effort put in to getting the shape part of the name correct and therefore having to prepare and cook far more than was necessary (chuckle)

The whole evening was greatly enhanced by the addition of homegrown Iraqi herbs…. apologies for the spillage of the seeds that night (blush) they tasted great though (smile)
